Individual Song Breakdowns

About the EP:

While awaiting the balance of the remaining tracks for ‘Projects III’ (my next solo record) from the various session musicians, I started writing some singles. I did this mainly as an exercise, to continue to challenge my developing voice, since the record that follows will be my first full-on vocally-driven release. It was a lot of fun and I began learning so much about my voice that I wrote six in total. Composed, recorded, and mixed in as many weeks, ‘Dotty Ditties, Volume 1(?)’ is the result of this learning process.

These songs aren’t really meant to be taken seriously. In fact, there’s a comedic element—usually quite conspicuous—in all of ‘em. However, they weren’t designed to be that way, it just sorta happened naturally. I think I just confused myself. Anyway, enough babble. Enjoy!

Thank you to my fans, friends, associates, and family; especially my parents for their perpetual support and my neighbors for putting up with all of the racket. Special thanks to David Benites and Sacha Mullin for their guidance and tutelage in regards to the voice.

Cover Art Construction

As is often the case, I had a random jolt of inspiration for this idea, to obscure my face with a tangle of instrument cables. Thankfully, my father is a pack rat and had an old stereo lying around, as it really ‘tied the room together’. This was originally going to be the art for “Ladio Radio”, when ‘Dotty Ditties’ was still in its infancy, and as I wrote more and more singles I grew worried about churning out multiple images/art. Repurposing at its most convenient!
