'Finite III' Bandcamp (purchase) CD Purchase Individual Song Breakdowns --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About the album: I began composing ‘Finite III’ in March of 2019. As has been the case with many of my releases, its genesis was in the idea of just how to initiate the record. I was further impelled by the fact that Sophia had since purchased a 7-string electric violin, so it opened up many more options for melodies and such; everything snowballed from there. Credits 1. Cover Art Construction I didn’t have any ideas for quite a while. I don’t think the burst of inspiration came until well after I had begun synth production, sometime in January (2020). Coupled with the image - in my mind’s eye - of the cover art for The Dillinger Escape Plan’s ‘Miss Machine’, I figured I could take bits and pieces of everyone’s instruments and everyone’s faces and rearrange them, digitally, in a strange and perhaps abstract manner. I suggested to Cam and Soph to make exaggerated/absurd poses, as it could lend to more general weirdness. I did one draft (which ended up being the art for the face of the CD), then built two ‘sculptures’ (the nearly-transparent images layered in the background on the cover that are also entirely visible on the back of the CD), then spent ten hours one day doing the bulk of the main art. I pressed down on my laptop’s trackpad so much that my fingerprint started to wear down and it wasn’t interfacing as well, haha. I added some dark shading in the bottom left corner of the image along with the title a few weeks later, and that was that.
