Individual Song Breakdowns

About the record:

In January of 2022, I set out to record a song with a heightened, specific skill set, which required a period of nearly three weeks to develop. I was also noodling around on the bass guitar more often than usual at the end of my days; I had been gradually amassing a bounty of riffs ever since the writing session for Midnight Acolyte. One day, the chorus for “Somnambulists Agree…” popped into my head, and combined with a surplus of the aforementioned bass riffs and other ideas, DD3 was born within that three-week period. I had always planned on grouping it with volumes 1 and 2, as well as the “Misinterpreting Movies Theme”, as those works were previously available only in the digital realm.

Cover Art Construction

After I had purchased a megaphone (and subsequently used it on “Somnambulists Agree…”), I believe the concept came to me. Continuing the trend of obscuring my face, it’s quite a simple layout. I wanted an overly ‘vintage’/grainy photo aesthetic, and approached Kimberly with the idea, as I knew she also practiced photography. She recommended processing it similarly to a tintype photo. We met at her place, set up a black sheet and posed, and she did the rest. After, I proffered her the option of handling the title, and during our correspondence I had the idea of it mimicking embossed gold. She brought this all out beautifully!
